General comment Butane-1,4-diol is a primary alcohol and an organic compound. It is a colorless viscous liquid and one of four stable isomers of butanediol. It's used as a source of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a recreational drug with euphoric and sedative effects. It is also industrially used to make floor stripper, paint thinner, and other solvent products. |
