The milk source base is located at Hongya Country, Southwestern Sichuan Province, China, about 147 kilometres far from Chengdu City, the provincial capital. The diary processing plant is located at Pixian, suburb of Chengdu City, which is about 175 kilometres far from the milk source base. The branded milk is mainly distributed to the central Chengdu City, about 40 kilometres distances from the diary processing plant. The milk packaging waste is transported to the municipal landfill for final disposal, about 30 kilometres away from the central city.

Use advice for data set
When using this LCA dataset, the focus should be on processes with a direct contribution to pure milk production, paying specific attention to energy and materials inputs as well as carbon emissions. Care should be taken in interpreting the simplified system boundary as it may not include all ancillary processes. For accurate life cycle impact assessments, users should consider the complete supply chain and end-of-life stages, which may require additional data beyond what is provided in this dataset. Inventory data in Table 2 should be used in conjunction with the specified methodology, and adjustments should be made when applying this data to different technological contexts or geographic locations.
Technical purpose of product or process
The data set describes the production process of local branded pure milk, a dairy product processed in Sichuan Province, China. It is used in the food industry, specifically in the dairy sector, to provide consumers with pasteurized and packaged milk. The technical quality of the milk is suitable for direct consumption and potentially for use in creating other dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, and cream. The stages considered in the dataset include raw milk production, dairy product processing, product transportation, and packaging waste disposal.

Technology description including background system
This study only focused on processes that directly contributed to pure milk production, that is, only the effects of energy and material input and carbon emissions, as shown in Figure 1. The system boundary of milk life cycle is thus simplified and divided into four stages, namely, raw milk production, dairy product processing, product transportation and packaging waste disposal.
