General comment | Ammonia is a chemical found in trace quantities on Earth, produced from nitrogenous animal and vegetable matter. It's also found in small quantities in rainwater, ammonium chloride, and ammonium sulfate in volcanic districts. It's a waste product processed in the liver and removed through urine. High ammonia levels in blood can be dangerous, caused by conditions like liver disease, kidney failure, and certain congenital conditions. Ammonia aqueous solution (28% or less) is often used in an aqueous solution, shipped as a liquefied compressed gas with a pungent, suffocating odor. |
