General comment | Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs) are used in electronic products, electric vehicles, and various energy storage devices. They are known for their high energy density, low self-discharge rate, and absence of memory effect. Once determined as hazardous waste, they need to be managed under the 'universal waste' requirements. A battery is made up of an anode, cathode, separator, electrolyte, and two current collectors. The anode and cathode store the lithium, and the electrolyte carries positively charged lithium ions from the anode to the cathode and vice versa. |
