Photochemical Ozone Creation Potential (POCP) is a measure of the potential for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to contribute to photochemical ozone formation at the local level. Ground-level ozone, which has an impact on flora and fauna, is generated through photochemical oxidation, a reaction that occurs when NOx and VOCs are exposed to UV. The extent to which they participate in photochemical reactions in the air and cause ozone pollution is referred to as photochemical ozone creation potential (POCP). The extent of photochemical reactivity in the air is generally expressed as POCP using ethylene as a reference material (POCP = 100).
