General comment | Calcium fluoride (CaF2) is an insoluble ionic compound composed of Ca 2+ and F − ions. It occurs naturally as the mineral 'Fluorite' (also called fluorspar) and as 'Blue-John'. This salt is the source of most of the world's fluorine. It is mostly found in the bones and teeth. It is a white crystalline solid that is commonly used in the production of glass and ceramics due to its high strength. |
