General comment | Bone glue is a type of adhesive that was used by ancient civilizations for various tasks. It is made from animal bones, water, and a source of heat. The bones are crushed into a very fine powder to make the glue. It is a synthetic carbonated hydroxyapatite with a carbonate ion content similar to bone mineral. This calcium/phosphate mixture hardens into dahllite 5 minutes post mixing, acting as 'instant bone' for fractures. It sets up relatively quickly after it is applied and becomes jelly-like and will no longer bond if allowed to cool. |
