Al is used for a cathode current collector and Cu is used as an anode current collector. Al and Cu current collectors can further be categorized into foil, meshed, foam and carbon coated type current collectors. Meshed foil is generally lighter than regular foil with the same thickness. It can improve device power density due to its lighter weight. Standard aluminum foil is typically around 0.016 mm thick, while heavy-duty aluminum foil can range from 0.02 mm to 0.025 mm thick. This extra thickness gives the heavy-duty aluminum foil more strength and durability, making it better suited for demanding applications, such as wrapping large roasts, freezing foods for long periods, or cooking. In this work, we propose a new type of Al 3+ aqueous electrolyte for Cu-Al dual-ion battery with copper foil as anode and CuS on titanium foil as cathode.
