General comment | Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless, poisonous gas that forms when carbons from fuels burn incompletely. It is lighter than air and released both naturally and through man-made processes. It results from incomplete oxidation of carbon in combustion. Incomplete combustion occurs when insufficient oxygen is used in the fuel burning process, leading to more carbon monoxide emission in preference to carbon dioxide. |
