General comment | Litopenaeus vannamei, also known as the Pacific white shrimp, is a species of prawn of the eastern Pacific Ocean commonly farmed for food. It was first introduced to China in 1988 and has since experienced a surge in popularity. In 2016, China produced an estimated 1,672,246 tons of shrimp. It is the most cultivated shrimp species globally. |
