General comment | Organic fertilizers feed the soil and sustain plants. They include animal waste and byproducts, such as bird and bat guano, blood meal, bone meal and feather meal, as well as fish and kelp fertilizers. Organic fertilizers depend on soil microbes to release macronutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) gradually over time. They improve soil structure and enhance the natural fertility of the soil or replace chemical elements taken from the soil by previous crops. |
