General comment Graphite electrodes serve to transfer the electrical energy from the power supply to the steel melt in the EAF bath. They are typically made using premium petroleum needle coke, coal tar pitch, and some additives. Graphite electrode can also be called artificial graphite electrode, refers to petroleum coke, needle coke as raw materials, coal tar pitch as binder. They are used in EAFs for steel production and in the refinement of steel and similar smelting processes. Graphite is used as an electrode material because it is a good conductor of electricity, is chemically stable, and can withstand high temperatures.
