General comment | Dregs refer to a small amount of residue or the sediment of liquors, foreign matter that subsides to the bottom of a vessel containing liquors. In winemaking, the dregs are the solid particles that settle at the bottom of a wine barrel or bottle. Some winemakers believe that the dregs add flavor and body to the wine, and they leave them in. Wine made with the dregs is usually sweeter than wine made without them. |
