General comment | The Large Yellow Croaker is a species of croaker native to the western Pacific, found in temperate waters such as the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea. It is high in protein and low in carbohydrates, containing significant amounts of B6 and B12 vitamins and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. It is one of the most popular marine finfish in China, often eaten as a key part of celebratory meals and during holidays. It has a long history in the Chinese diet, with records dating back to 400 BC documenting its consumption. |
