General comment | Manganese Residual, also known as 'Mn-rich residue', is a by-product of electrolytic manganese metal production. It contains harmful components such as ammonia nitrogen, soluble manganese and other heavy metals. Manganese is a silvery-gray metal that resembles iron. It is hard, very brittle, difficult to fuse, but easy to oxidize. Manganese is a mineral necessary for human health but can be dangerous in large quantities. Its surplus is linked to a variety of behavioral and developmental disorders in children. |
