Use advice for data set | Users of this Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) dataset should take special care to include all stages in the assessment, from raw material extraction through to the finished product processing, including energy and material consumption data for each stage. Additionally, data users must account for the fossil energy consumption and emissions, which should be estimated based on the consumption rates, lower heating values, and emission factors from IPCC, EEA, and EPA reports. Data on batch production, such as the production of fused magnesia and flake graphite, should correspond to energy consumption limits and life cycle assessment literature from China. Background data on energy production from electricity and natural gas, along with material transportation, should be sourced from the Sino-center database of Beijing University of Technology. |
Technical purpose of product or process | The regenerated magnesia-carbon brick process post heat-treatment is intended for use in refractory applications within heavy industries such as steel production. The material properties of magnesia-carbon bricks make them suitable for lining furnaces, converters, and ladles due to their high thermal resistance and low thermal expansion. |
